Alpine skiing and snowboarding

The holiday resort of Geiersthal in the Bavarian Forest is located just a few kilometres from the well-known skiing and winter sports region on the Grosser Arber (1,456 m). As the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest, the Grosser Arber is an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Here, skiers and snowboarders will find a varied range of superbly prepared slopes, modern lifts and snow-making facilities as well as several ski schools and ski hire facilities.

Also the beautiful slopes in the Geisskopf ski region and the winter sports area in the Pröller skiing triangle will also have the hearts of skiers and snowboarders beating faster.

Wintersport region Großer Arber (20 km)

Perfectly prepared slopes and ski runs with a total length of 15 km (easy 4 km, moderate 4 km and difficult 2 km) await winter sports enthusiasts in the skiing and winter sports region on the Grosser Arber. A special experience is the 5 km-long tour slope to Bodenmais! Snowboarders (freeriders, racers, freestylers, etc.) also get their money's worth in the Grosser Arber winter sports region – the Snowboard Fun and Railpark with rails, kicker, bankeds and much more awaits you! Snowboarding for maximum pleasure! Ski and snowboard hire are available directly on site. And the small "racers" have their own “Arbär Kinderland" with fun skiing offers for children. Several toboggan runs and ski schools, floodlit slopes (floodlit skiing), as well as modern snowmaking machines await you here!

Geisskopf skiing region (20 km)

The Geisskopf ski region in the Bavarian Forest offers winter sports enthusiasts nine wide and varied slopes. Whether you are a beginner, an advanced or a professional skier – you're sure to find a ski run that suits you here! Snowboarders and freestylers will get their money's worth in the Snowboard Funpark! Experience pure skiing enjoyment - with a single chairlift, five T-bar lifts and a ski lift for beginners. Modern snowmaking facilities on seven of the nine runs guarantee winter fun even when snow is scarce! A ride on one of the longest natural toboggan runs in Germany is a particular pleasure for young and old alike.

Pröller skiing triangle (15 km)

Enjoy family-friendly ski runs and slopes for skiers and also racing-oriented Alpine skiers. Snowboarders, cross-country skiers and toboggan riders also get their money's worth in the Pröller ski triangle.
6 km of downhill runs offer skiing fun for everyone. State of the art snowmaking machines guarantee high snow reliability.
The Pröller ski triangle is the floodlit Eldorado in the Bavarian Forest. With 2.7 kilometres of illuminated ski slopes, the Pröller skiing region is the floodlit centre for young and old.
A 200m long, rolled sledging run at the valley station in Klinglbach guarantees sledging fun for young and old.
The winter atmosphere in the skiing region puts you in the mood for cosy après-ski.
Mountain hut fun is offered by our chalets and inns, which are all located next to the ski runs in the Pröller skiing region and feature sun patios with Jagertee (a mixture of tea and schnapps).

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing in the Bavarian Forest is a special treat for all those who want to enjoy the beauty of the snow-covered winter landscape to the fullest. Everything is here - from easy trails for beginners to advanced cross-country tours for experienced skiers!

Cross-country skiing in the Geiersthal region

The cross-country skiing centre "Schön-Zottling-Himmelwies" is situated in close proximity to the holiday resort of Geiersthal in the Bavarian Forest. Here, cross-country skiers can explore the snow-covered Bavarian Forest on three perfectly prepared cross-country ski runs (9.6 and 3 km). In addition, you will find a trail here for skating technique.

More cross-country areas & cross-country centres nearby

The nearby Bretterschachten cross-country skiing centre near Bodenmais offers various possibilities for cross-country skiing – for both skating und classic style.
In addition to a practice trail for beginners (1.5 km) you will find well prepared cross-country skiing trails with distances ranging from 4 to 18 km in the Bretterschachten cross-country skiing centre. A particular pleasure for experienced skiers is the Auerhahn Höhenloipe Schareben with a length of 20 or 40 km!

The Frath cross-country skiing centre also offers pure cross-country skiing enjoyment! Cross-country skiers can enjoy the snow-covered Bavarian Forest on three trails with levels of difficulty ranging from easy to demanding. Here you have direct connections to the Bodenmais-Bretterschachten cross-country skiing centre.

Experience pure romance – on winter walks and horse-drawn carriage rides (horse-drawn sleigh rides) you will be enchanted by the magnificent snow-covered scenery. Enjoy hiking on the well-prepared winter hiking trails or explore the romantic winter landscape with exciting snow-shoe hikes and snow-shoe tours.
